About me
Nice to meet! I am Twan and I've been building websites since 7 years now. For all kinds of companies and organisations. I'm not sure how but I was born as an enthusiastic person and I've always been able to enjoy and learn from things that life offers.
10 bullets on my private life
- Child of a Limburg father and a North Holland (West Frisian) mother.
- Born in 1984.
- Grew up in the city of Roermond, where we used to swim each summer in the Maasplassen, and celebrated carnaval every winter.
- Traveled quite a bit (about 40 countries) and moved home a lot too (23x).
- Spent around eight years living abroad (China, Thailand, Singapore, and Argentina). Learned a great deal about culture, poverty, and differences in perspectives.
- I love music and art, I enjoy dancing, and I DJ for fun at small parties, like our own Galerie Sociale.
- I'm a huge fan of Dutch clouds.
- My girlfriend Hester is an Amsterdam local and besides being my lover she's a creative inspiration to me.

- You can always wake me up in the middle of the night for an authentic Tian Shui Mian (甜水面). My mouth is already watering as I type these words.
10 bullets on my professional life
- Followed an exchange program at the Singapore Management University in 2006, focused on Asian retail management, consumer behaviour and marketing
- Earned my Bachelor degree in International Business at the Universiteit Maastricht in 2008, majored in Strategy and Finance.
- Earned my Masters degree in Finance at the Vrije Universiteit (VU) in Amsterdam in 2009.
- My first official position was as a financial analyst at the Dutch Central Bank where I analysed data and created reports and presentations on European Central Bank Collateral.ECMS).
- I gave up everything in the Netherlands to move to China in 2013 and started my own market research agency there. It was my first own company called About Asia.
- After a thorough scan of the Chinese dance scene for a huge Dutch dance organisation, I stumbled upon the opportunity to open a nightclub with a few amazing people, in Chengdu, called TAG ChengduThe club got much international and local coverage, even articles appeared in the Economist Magazine and the Goethe institute.
- Spent five years organizing full-time parties and events in Chengdu under the labels TAG, Family Business, Walk On Air, and Dusk Till Dawn.
- Made a fresh start as an SEO and website freelancer after relocating to Bangkok.
- Founded Nomad Cartel together with my Estonian business partner Margus. We worked a lot for Estonian clients.
- Since 5 years I'm living in Amsterdam Noord and currently operating under the name WP Twan.
As an entrepreneur I help other entrepreneurs
I love helping entrepreneurs bring their ideas to life, because I know how beautiful entrepreneurship can be. After 15 years of experience across different sectors and countries as an entrepreneur, I am convinced that entrepreneurship is a life mission and a calling. Building something new from nothing — and being in control of how it takes shape — is what drives me and so many other entrepreneurs.
